Local body elections announced in Punjab province, finalized on December 4
Lahore: Local body elections have been announced in Punjab province. Elections will be held on a non-partisan basis. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the provincial law minister.
In the first phase, elections will be held for Village Council and Neighborhood Council. Village council and neighborhood elections will be held on a non-partisan basis. In this regard, the Punjab government has finalized the date of December 4 and sent it to the Election Commission.
In the first phase, 27,000 people will be part of the local government system. In the second phase, tehsil council and metropolitan elections will be held in January.
However, the date for the second phase has not been finalized yet. In a meeting chaired by Law Minister Raja Basharat, important decisions were taken that local bodies would come into existence before January 31.
