Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif's Gujranwala rally rigged the direct elections on Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG ISI General Faiz Hameed. On the allegations of bringing Imran Khan to power, he has said that he is "waiting for Nawaz Sharif to present evidence".
In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari discussed the election campaign in Ittehad-e-Pakistan Democratic Movement and Gilgit-Baltistan.
At the Gujranwala meeting, Nawaz Sharif first accused the military leadership of rigging the 2018 elections and removing him from the post of Prime Minister, incumbent Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and the head of the country's intelligence agency ISI. Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed had a direct role.
His statement sparked a debate in the country's political and military circles. Many quarters termed the statement as "negative" but many criticized the PPP for refraining from taking a clear stand like the PML-N.
The BBC also asked him whether the PML-N had named the leadership of the Pakistan Army or the head of the ISI at the All Parties Conference and other meetings at the time of the formation of the PDM, or Any hints about?
Replying to this, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari replied in the negative, saying, "The Nawaz League did not mention the name of General Bajwa or General Faiz at the time of preparation of the PDM agenda." In C) there was a debate as to whether the blame should be placed on one institution or the entire establishment. And it was agreed that it would be called the Establishment, not a single institution.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says he was "shocked" when he heard Nawaz Sharif's name directly in a Gujranwala rally.
The BBC asked him if naming the heads of the institutions (General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed) meant that the platform of the opposition parties felt that it would increase the pressure so much that these heads resigned. Bilawal Bhutto explained that the Pakistan Democratic Movement does not demand the resignation of the military leadership.
"Let me make it clear that this is neither a demand in our resolution nor is it our position. As far as naming is concerned, I think it is certain that Mian Sahib would not have named anyone without proof and such allegations should be based on evidence. I do not adopt the method for my own party that I state this (ie direct accusation) in meetings. But Mian Sahib has the right to take such a stand if he wants to.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed naming or directly blaming the military leadership as a "personal and party decision" by Nawaz Sharif and Muslim Nawaz.
